At Colonial Hills we believe that parents have the God-given role of being the primary disciple maker of their children. This is a big task but you are not alone! We want to come alongside you to encourage, equip, and help you as you help your children find and follow Jesus. On this page you will find several resources that we hope will be a blessing to you and your family.
AXIS RESOURCES
Do you ever feel completely disconnected with the world and culture your student lives in? It’s difficult to understand culture let alone have meaningful discussions with your students about it. That’s where Axis comes in! Axis is an organization that creates Christ-centered resources designed to help parents and students connect. These guides will help you understand the things your teens face, how to have conversations about them, and how to biblically disciple them into lifelong faith through it all.
PARENT CUE
You have approximately 936 weeks from the time your child is born until they graduate. When you see how much time you have left, you tend to do more with the time you have now. Parent Cue is designed to help every parent do something each week to help move their kid toward a deeper faith and a better future. Their website provides articles, podcasts, and resources to equip you in discipling your children. The Parent Cue app counts down the weeks until your child graduates, and provides you with weekly “cues” that help you make the most of your time with your student.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
The YouVersion Bible app allows you to open the scriptures anytime, anywhere. There are also great reading plans that you and your students can read together, or you can read it with your entire family!
We have compiled a short list of books we would recommend for every parent of students. We have also included some books that we would encourage students to read to build and strengthen their spiritual foundation.
Giving your student a cell phone is a big step. In this Cell Phone Agreement, there are some expectations for you and your student to talk through—both for how/when they use their phone, and for how/when you use yours. And even if your kid has had a phone for a while, it’s never too late to talk about what a healthy relationship with their phone looks like.
